Terms of service

These terms govern access to Chess Planet, online play, player conduct and digital content on the web, iOS and Android.

1. Provider and acceptance

Chess Planet is provided by Yellow Bench s.r.o., company ID 07601662, Václavské náměstí 819/43, Nové Město, 110 00 Prague 1, Czech Republic. By using the service, you agree to these terms and the privacy policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

2. Eligibility

You must be legally capable of accepting these terms. A child may use Chess Planet only with the consent and supervision required by local law. A parent or guardian is responsible for a child's use of the service and purchases.

3. Accounts

  • Solo play and two players on one device do not require signing in to an external account. The service may create an anonymous Firebase account for technical operation and progress. On the current website and in app versions that support this requirement, online matchmaking, private online games and resuming an online match require a signed-in account and a nickname you explicitly choose and confirm.
  • Use an available sign-in provider. Linking the guest account preserves its player identity. Choosing to sign in to an existing account is a separate, explicit action; progress, purchases and history from different accounts are not merged automatically.
  • Keep access to your sign-in provider and device secure. Do not share authentication tokens, impersonate another person or create accounts to evade enforcement.
  • Choose a nickname of 2–24 letters or numbers; spaces, dots, hyphens and underscores are also allowed. Nicknames are visible to other players and need not be unique. A provider name or old generated name is not automatically accepted. Do not use an email address or telephone number. Nicknames must not be unlawful, abusive, deceptive or infringe another person's rights.
  • You may delete your account as described on the Delete account page.

4. Game service

Chess Planet provides standard chess and Chess960, solo play, two players on one device, online matchmaking and private games where available. Clocks, matchmaking ranges, ratings, content and platform availability may change as the service is improved.

  • A network interruption, app suspension or device failure may affect an online game. Server state controls online turns, clocks, results and rating changes.
  • Ratings, leaderboards and match history are game features, have no monetary value and may be corrected when an error or abuse is detected.

5. Multiplayer conduct

Use multiplayer fairly and respectfully.

  • Do not cheat, automate play, exploit defects, manipulate matchmaking or ratings, disrupt the service or access another player's account.
  • Do not use display names or other service features for harassment, threats, hate, illegal content, spam or disclosure of personal information.
  • We may review reports, block matching between players, remove content, invalidate results or restrict an account when reasonably necessary to protect players or the service.

6. Digital purchases

Paid piece sets and worlds are optional digital entitlements. App-store availability is described on the availability page. Check the shop and Stripe Checkout for current web purchase availability and prices. An enabled native purchase option does not mean the app has been publicly released. The displayed platform price and purchase confirmation apply. Purchases made through Apple App Store or Google Play are also governed by that store's terms, payment method, refund and family-purchase rules.

  • A purchase grants a personal, limited, non-transferable right to use the item in Chess Planet. It does not transfer ownership of artwork, software or intellectual property.
  • We receive a product and transaction identifier needed to verify and restore the entitlement, not full card details.
  • For a store-processed payment or refund, use the store's support route first. Your mandatory consumer rights remain unaffected.
  • Prices, regional availability and future offers may differ by platform. We will not charge without an explicit purchase confirmation.

7. License and intellectual property

Yellow Bench and its licensors own Chess Planet, including software, characters, art, animation, audio, text, trademarks and game presentation. We grant you a revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the service for personal, non-commercial play. You may not copy, sell, reverse engineer, bypass security or commercially exploit the service except where mandatory law permits it.

8. Availability and updates

We aim to keep Chess Planet available but do not promise uninterrupted or error-free operation. We may maintain, update, replace or discontinue features or testing builds. Material changes affecting paid content will be handled in accordance with applicable consumer law.

9. Suspension and termination

You may stop using the service or delete your account at any time. We may temporarily restrict or terminate access for serious or repeated breach, security risk, fraud, unlawful use or when required by law. Where appropriate, we will consider the severity and provide notice or a way to contact support.

10. Responsibility

Chess Planet is supplied with the rights and guarantees that cannot be excluded under applicable consumer law. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Yellow Bench is not responsible for indirect loss, lost opportunities or failures caused by your connection, device, third-party platform or circumstances outside reasonable control. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded.

11. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by Czech law, without removing mandatory consumer protections of your country of residence. Contact yellowbenchprague@gmail.com first so we can try to resolve the issue. EU consumers may also use the competent out-of-court consumer dispute body; in the Czech Republic this is the Czech Trade Inspection Authority at coi.gov.cz.

12. Changes and contact

We may update these terms to reflect product or legal changes. The current date is shown above. Material changes will be communicated reasonably before they take effect when required by law.
